Match Report

Piddlehinton 0 - 6 Crossways
A much depleted Piddlehinton side conceeded three goals in each half , to a Crossways team who were clearly the better side throughout. It was most dissapointing that with 5 players already missing due to Mike Churchills wedding and a further 2 unavailable, 3 more dropped out on Friday evening /Saturday morning. Many of the team showed great spirit and determination particularly in the second half and it was the experienced players, Cocker, Sturmey and Gerlach who excelled while Mike Smith battled hard up front without the quality of service needed.
As Manager I would like to thank everyone for their efforts , particularly those called upon late on Saturday morning - I wonder how many other clubs would have managed to fulfill a fixture under these circumstances. Incidentally for those who don't know by now the reason for the cancellation of training on Wednesday 24th January was that the lights for the astro turf failed !!
I promised the Crossways manager a better game in the return fixture, and it is interesting that he admitted we were the better side in the earlier cup game.We now have 14 games left to improve our league position.
Team:
1. Chris Cocker
2. Rob Minhinnick
3. Jerry Gerlach
4. Ben Rose
