Match Report

Piddlehinton 2 - 4 Shaftesbury
Piddle kicked off the game with 10 men, with keeper Bennett falling asleep in front of the tv watching Man Utd - Liverpool game! Rose and Hargreaves also made late appearances after enjoying the same game down the local. Front man Smith started between the sticks while they waited for Bennett to arrive.
It didnt take long for a poor shaftesbury team to capitalise when a cross from the left wing was headed into the net within the first five minutes. Piddle managed to ride out the storm until Bennetts arrival some 15 minutes late! Bennett was soon picking the ball out of the net when a long range shot nestled in the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Piddle made various chances in the first half but were guilty of poor finishing, Petford and Smith guilty on a couple of occassions. The home team went in 2-0 down at half time and received a well earned rollocking from manager Hansford.
This seamed to spur Piddle on and they soon get back on level terms when first Smith, and then Hargeaves scored. With the impetous of those goals it seemed that they would surely go on to secure all 3 points but it was not to be. Some slack marking led to a third shaftesbury goal, and then a fourth finished the fightback off for good.
Although it has been said a few times already this year, surely this was Piddles worse performance of the season so far.
