Match Report

Stickland 6 - 1 Piddlehinton
In what has become a recurring theme in recent weeks Piddle produced another below par performance and were comprehensively beaten by an average stickland side, who they had previously beaten 5-3 in the reverse fixture.
Piddle got off to a great start when Jeanes, refreshed from his stay at the ice hotel, scored the opening goal after a quality flick from Hargeaves. The away team looked fully in control at this point, however the lead was soon relinquished when a mix up at the back allowed the Stickland forward to squeeze the ball home from what appeared to be an impossible angle. Two more mistakes later and Piddle found themselves inexplicably 3-1 down at half time.
Manager hansford tried to turn things around by employing an attacking 4-3-3 formation, and although Piddle were stringing a few passes together, they soon conceded again. The fifth goal summed up the performance as the normally reliable mcghee missed a long free kick completely, possibly by trying to put in a cheeky cruyff turn, and allowed the Home forward to place the ball past the stranded Bennett. The scoring was completed, with the only Stickland goal that wasnt a Piddle mistake, with a powerful volley from the edge of the box.
Piddle need to start picking up some points soon if they are to avoid being dragged into the relegation dogfight.
