Antelope 8 - 1 Piddlehinton

Piddle went in the game knowing that Div 3 status was virtually assured knowing only a goal difference of -50 in the next two games would put them in danger. With this in mind Piddle went to work to see if this could be acheived! After taking the scenic route several times through east dorset they eventually found the ground which had possibly the best playing surface seen all season. This would surely suit Piddlehintons silky passing game.....

Mcghee took his place between the stcisk in place of Bennett who was missing due to work commitments. It didnt take Antelope long to make Mcghee regret his decision when one of the home team players unleashed an unstoppable swerving shot from 20 yards which flashed into the top corner. Piddle miraculously drew level moments later. A Petford precision free kick from the left seemed destined for the top corner before Ayles rose like a salmon and planted a bullet header past the keeper for his 3rd goal of the season. Yet sadly still not enough to get him on the top scorers list due to its bizzare alphabetical order....

Antelope piled on the pressure with some superb passing football but Mcghee was looking solid in the Piddle goal making some outstanding saves. Piddlehinton were actually playing some of their best passing football of the season, prompting a comment 'Im enjoying this' at half time from manager Kip Hansford. Surely tempting fate for a secong half pummeling! Antelope scored maybe two or three more goals in the first half to make the half time score either 3-1 or 4-1. To be honest it was quite sunny and this was the main thing.

Luke Notley came on for Hansford at half time, shame Notley didnt practice his golf instead as he was seen slicing some awful shots on the golf course the next day. Antelope made 2 or 3 changes at half time and this seemed to spur the home team on as Piddle tired. More goals were to come to take the home teams tally to 8 for the game. At least one of the goals attributed to a shout of 'the sun is in my eyes' from Ayles which is becoming a bit of a catchphrase for the season. Mcghee again made some good saves but even Gordon Banks would have struggled against Antelopes clinical finishing. The referee soured a game playedl in good spirit with a booking for an antelope player for having a water bottle on the field. Oh well.

A good warm up for the last game of the season against league champions Upwey & Broadwey!
