Piddlehinton 5 - 2 Railway Tavern

Piddlehinton continued their impressive recent from with a 5-2 win over a good railway tavern side. Piddle shot out of the blocks and took the lead almost instantly when Hargreaves found Jeanes unmarked on the edge of the box and he rifled home from 18 yards for his first goal of the season. The second soon followed as good work from Jeanes on the right found Smith's run and he powered a shot over the keeper and into the net. Smith got his second of the game and piddle's third as the home team built up a commanding 3-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the contest. It was inevitable that Piddle would sit back on the lead and try to soak up the pressure, but they came unstuck when a long throw was not dealt with at the near post and the railway tavern striker tapped in from 6 yards. There was a shout for a push on keeper Mcghee but the Polish referee waved away Piddle's protests.

It didn't take long for Piddle to restore there 3 goal cushion as another quality Hansford corner was guided home by centre back Mark Ayles. Again Piddle were forced to soak up large amounts of pressure as Railway Tavern tried to get back into the game, but still looked dangerous on the counter attack. With time running out Railway Tavern snuck another goal back with a well taken header from a corner. The game was effectively killed off when a slick Piddle passing move found Dovell at the far post, his shot was blocked by the keeper but Hargreaves was on hand to volley home the rebound. Both teams had chances to score before the end but the Piddle defence held firm, with Mcghee in fine form between the sticks.
