Harbour View 2 - 5 Piddlehinton

Piddlehinton FC produced one of their best performances of the season so far to see off newly promoted Poole side Harbour View Developments. The Piddle management decided to shuffle the pack with Jeanes moving up front, Petford replacing him in centre midfield, Hargreaves switching to right midfield, and Frampton playing at right back. Dovell was missing due to the birth of his new son, and Mcghee was absent for the second week due to him sunning it up on some Portugese beach.

Piddle started slowly which has been the case all season, giving their opponents too much respect, wary of a team who had beaten FC Windowman 8-1 and 5-1 in Div 4 last year. Harbour View took the lead when a ball into the box was headed in at the far post. Piddle responded well and were soon back on level terms when Bushnell picked the ball up on the right hand side of the penalty box, cut in side and drilled a left footed shot into the bottom corner. Harbour View seemed to be picking up all the second ball, and it was this that led to them retaking the lead. A corner was cleared by the Piddle defence to a Harbour View midfielder on the edge of the box, who wasnt closed down quickly enough allowing him to pick his spot in the top corner past Bennetts dispairing dive. HT 2-1.

Piddle came out the second half looking a different team, playing some fantastic football, and starting to dominate the game in all areas of the pitch. They deservedly drew level when a flowing passing move saw Petford find Bushnell on the left hand side of the box, he beat his man before lashing in a volley into the roof of the net from a seemingly impossible angle. Jeanes fired Piddle into the lead when he interchanged passes well with Bushnell and he rifled into the net from 12 yards. The game became more open as Harbour View pushed for an equaliser with both teams hitting the woodwork several times.

The game was made safe for the away side when Petford drilled in a free kick from the right wing, and as Jeanes challenged in the area, the Harbour View defender could only flick the ball into his own net. The icing on the cake came as Bushnell completed his hat trick in what was one of the best moves put together by a Piddle team in recent years. After several crisp passes the ball was fed to Hargreaves on the right wing, his deep cross was cushion headered by Jeanes into the path of the advancing Bushnell who volleyed the ball home to complete an excellent move and excellent overall second half performace for Piddlehinton.

They will be looking to carry on that level of performance when they face Div 3 basement boys Donhead Utd at fortress Thomas Hardye next week.
