Match Report

Piddlehinton 5 - 1 Stickland
Piddle looked to erase the memory of the previous weeks defeat at swanage with 3 points against stickland at fortress THLS. Piddle were quickly into their stride and started to dominate the game, producing a string of chances but failing to apply the finishing touch.
Piddle deservedly took the lead albeit through a dubious penalty. A Petford throw found Dovell in the box, and he appeared to trip over his own gangly legs before the ref pointed to the spot. Hagreaves stepped up to convert, sending the keeper the wrong way after apparently giving him "the eyes".
Stickland got back on level terms with what was to be their only shot of the game. A stickland forward found himself in a Piddle sandwich on the edge of the box with Jeanes providing the peanut butter filling. The resultant free kick was delightfully stroked home into the top corner by the Stickland man, an effort that goofy Ronaldiniho would of been proud.
Piddle took a one goal lead into the dressing room at half time when Bushnell volleyed home following a goal mouth scramble, not pretty but they all count dont they. HT 2-1.
Stickland came out more determined in the second half, but it didnt take long for Piddle to put the game safe with a killer third goal. Hargreaves on an uncharacteristic mazy run, took the ball round the keeper and just as he was about to apply the finishing touch the Stickland defender drilled the ball into his own net! A goal which Hargreaves outrageously tried to claim after the game - no dice Kyle!
Hansford added a fourth from a free kick on the right wing. His weak dasiy cutter of a strike found its way through the packed penalty error and nesseled into the bottom corner of the net to everyones astonishment.
Bushnell hit double figues for the season to add Piddles fifth with a well taken finish. Controversy was to follow however which left Piddles captain Jeanes foaming at the mouth with rage!! He picked up the ball on the right hand side of the box and from an accute angle drilled the ball into the back of the net. The ball was struck with such venom..... that it bounced back out after sliding all the way round the net and off the post. To everyones astonishment the ref waved play on. Dovell and Hansford couldve passed the ball into the empty net but were already running off celebrating! Even the stickland defenders said good goal! Jeanes was close to having cardiac arrest at this point as he barracked the ref and the supporters on the sideline!
Piddles 8 games so far have produced no fewer than 50 goals at an average of 6.25 a game! If the Piddles army of fans had to pay to watch, they would surely be getting their moneys worth!
