Match Report

Piddlehinton 9 - 1 Shaftesbury
Piddle got over the dissapointment of last weeks dropped points with a resounding victory at home to Shaftesbury, the team they had beaten 11-0 a few weeks previous.
The pre-match team talk delivered by Hansford warned against complacency, and Piddle dominated from the outset. It did not take long for the home team to take the lead with Bushnell continuing his red hot form by converting a Jeanes cross at the far stick.
A Dovell shot moments later rebounded off the post kindly for Prowse to slide home his first of the season. Dovell got on the scoresheet himself when he bundled in a Hansford free kick with various parts of his body. He added his second when, after a strong run, his scuffed shot deflected off two men before squeezing under the stand in goalie.
Hansford scored his fifth of the season with a peach of a half volley, slamming the ball into the top corner from 20 yards. Piddle put together some sublime passing moves towards the end of the first half to crys of "Its just like watching arsenal" from the capacity crowd at THLS. HT 5-0.
Bushnell got his second of the game soon after the restart with a trademark run and finish for his 18th goal of the season, surely in contention for the golden boot.
Jeanes knew he had to score to keep the pressure on Bushnell at the top of the scorers chart and duly obliged bursting past a defender and slotting home. Hargreaves got in on the act with a deft finish from a Jeanes cross to make it eight.
Bennett was seriously underworked in the Piddle goal but produced a magnificent save from a rare Shaftesbury chance. The Shafts man found himself unmarked on the penalty spot and his shot looked destined for the top corner until Bennett somehow managed to turn the ball over the bar.
Piddle couldnt hold on for the clean sheet though as poor marking allowed a man at the far post to head home from a needless free kick on the left.
Dovell collected his hat trick when the Shaftsbury keeper tried to do keep ups with a back pass and gifted the ball to Dovell to slot into the empty net.
