Match Report

Stickland 0 - 5 Piddlehinton
Piddle looked to continue there recent run of good form when they made the trip to Stickland, chasing their second league double of the season.
It was obvious from the kick off that Stickland were going to play physical football to try and break up the game but they quickly learnt that Piddle were more than a match in this department. Several illegal challenges were returned with interest as Piddlehinton started to dominate play, one leaving the psycho Stickland striker on the floor crying like a baby!
Piddles crisp passing was soon rewarded when midway through the first half they got the opener. A Prowse free kick from 35 yards was left by everybody including the Stickland keeper as it bounced uncontested into the back of the net!
Piddle extended their lead just before half time when a Jeanes shot was fumbled by the keeper and he followed up to slot the ball home. Bennett was left as a virtual spectator for much of the half, only called into action when one of several mcghee slices led to a snapshot which the Piddle keeper was forced to turn round the post. HT 2-0.
The next goal was going to be important, and it was the away side that got it. Bushnell swivelled on the edge of the box and fired a low shot into the corner of the net.
Dovell continued his hot goal scoring form with two goals which made the scoreline more of a reflection on the play. His first was a bullet header from a precise Prowse free kick, and the second followed a comical bit of defending by Stickland. A through ball seemed to be harmlessly going back to the keeper until he collided with one of his defenders leaving them both on the deck, and Dovell to slot the loose ball into the empty net to complete the rout.
This should give Piddle added confidence going into next weeks county cup quarter final against Drimpton.
