Windowman 3 - 1 Piddlehinton

Piddle were looking to get into the Dorset Junior Cup Final in their 60th year, with only FC Windowman in their way. The Piddlehinton fans flocked south to the Marsh Weymouth in massive numbers... to provide support against a team that had already beaten Piddle twice in the league.

Windowman dominated play in the first half with Piddle struggling to get a foot on the ball, however the home team struggled to create only a few clear cut chances, Browns open goal miss the closest. At the other end Piddle were restricted to break away attacks, one of which saw Bushnell drill a shot that cannoned back off the home teams post. HT 0-0.

Piddle started the second half much better and were finding more passes to feet. They deservedly took the lead when captain Jeanes picked the ball up some 30 yards from goal and struck an unstoppable shot which dipped in over the flailing home keeper. The home team equalised when a free kick 20 yards out was fumbled by Piddle keeper Bennett and Jeanes attempted clearence cannoned off Brown for an undeserved equaliser.

Then came the most controversial moment of the match when Jeanes had a goal disallowed for dangerous play as he poked the ball home with his studs. Even the linesman ran back for a goal who couldnt see anything wrong with it. This proved to be the turning point of the match as, with the tie looking destined to go into extra time, a long shot from a home player was spilt by Bennett to an oncoming striker who had the simple task of slotting home.

Piddle pushed men forward in the search for an equaliser, but were punished further just as the ref was about to blow with a breakaway goal.

None the less a great effort by the Piddle players, who on a different day could easily have run out winners.
