Match Report

Catterick 1 - 5 Piddlehinton
On a dreary wet afternoon, Piddlehinton arrived at Blandford Camp to facy army side Catterick, who they had beaten 4-2 in the reverse fixture a few weeks earlier. With injuries keeping out Prowse, and Ayles there was a place on the bench for new signing Matt Frampton.
Catterick started the game very strongly and couldve easily been 3 up in the first 5 minutes, with Piddle struggling to string two passes together! Mcghee, making his first start for a few games due to injury, soon got into the action giving away a penalty with a blatant trip in the box. However, the resultant penalty was well saved by Bennett in the Piddle goal, and should've earned him a deserved pint from the centre half back at the pub if it wasnt for Mcghees no show!
Bennett was under increasing pressure and pulled off several quality saves, bt he could do nothing about Cattericks opener which was so well placed it went through the hole in the side netting! Piddle amazingly found themselves back on level terms when Henderson broke down the right, and his cross was met at the far post by Bushnell.
Catterick must've been in shocked when Piddle undeservedly took the lead just before half time with a Jeanes solo run and finish. HT 1-2.
After some honest words at half time Piddle came out determined to pass the ball around and play the flowing brand of football that the Piddlehinton massive have come to expect from their village team!! It seemed to do the trick as Catterick werent getting a look in, and the third goal wasn't far awar with Jeanes side footing home.
Bushnell soon notched his 34th goal of the season with a trademark run and left foot finish into the bottom corner. Piddle were restricting Catterick to long shots now, apart from when another Mcghee howler nearly gifted the home team a goal, but he was again saved this time by a Minhinnick block.
Jeanes put some gloss on the scoreline when the lunatic Catterick keeper through a strop and gave a hospital pass to his defender on the edge of the box. Bushnell quickly dispossessed the stunned Catterick player and unselfishly squared for Jeanes to complete his hat trick with a simple tap in.
A great result for Piddle who now know a win next week against Harbour View will guarantee them third spot in the league.
