Match Report

Kingston Lacy 5 - 1 Piddlehinton
On a wet and windy dorset day, Piddle made the trip to Pamphill Village Green to play league favourites Kingston Lacy knowing that they had already secured 3rd spot in the league. With Henderson and Prowse out for the rest of the season, it was decided for Minihinnick to switch to an unfamiliar central midfield role. The game kicked off and Piddle were soon on the back foot as Lacy gave the back five a real working over. Stand in keeper Cocker was certainly being kept entertained as he produced several excellent saves to hold Lacy at Bay.
The breakthrough came after about 20 minutes when a cross from the right was converted by the Lacy striker sliding in at the far post. A Lacy attack then led to Piddle full back Petford being giving his marching orders! Already walking a disciplinary tight rope with four yellow cards so far this season Petford thought he would go one better and get the full set! A Lacy ball into the box was headed goalwards by Piddles Ayles, and rather than see his fellow team mate having to face the embarrassment of an own goal, Petford blocked the ball on the line with his hand. The no nonsense ref flashed the red card for Petfords first sending off of his professional career.
A well taken penalty left Cocker with no chance to give Lacy a deserved 2-0 half time lead, and Piddle an uphill struggle in the 2nd half with only 10 men.
Piddle came out with high spirits in the second half determined to make a game of it. They got back onto the game when Bushnell was fed through and he rifled the ball past the home keeper and into the net. This really rattled the home team who started arguing amongst themselves and it was soon 10 vs 10 as a Lacy player was dismissed for calling the ref a c*nt! Piddle were well in the game now and started playing some nice passing football on the muddy surface.
Lacy were still looking dangerous and scored a 3rd goal which seemed to take the wind out of Piddles sails. A cross from the right hand side found Mcghee in the box and he rose like a salmon to place a bullet header past Cocker for one of the best own goals this reporter has ever seen! Lacy added two more goals in the dying stages as their superior fitness told.
