Piddlehinton 6 - 0 Lytchett RT

Piddlehinton follow up their disappointing defeat last game with a crushing 6-0 win over Lytchett Red Triangle, after a rousing teamtalk prior to kick off by Manager Derek Hansford.

Piddle stamped their authority on the game early on when a Mike Smith pass found Petford on the edge of the box. He took the ball in his stride and rifled a shot into the top corner to open the scoring. Petford was unlucky not to get on the score sheet again, picking up a Jeanes through ball he slotted calmly past the on rushing keeper only to have the goal cruelly ruled out by the dodgy ref for a shout of "Leave it" by Cutler.

Cutler made amends for his error by cooly side footing home from a Jeanes cross to make the score 2-0. The normally clinical hargeaves was having an off day, surely a result of too many shandys the night before, his worse miss by far was when he somehow managed to blaze over the bar from 2 yards out. It didnt take him long to get back in the grove though as he ran onto a through ball and slotted into the bottom corner off of the far post. HT 3-0.

Piddle carried on the good work into the second half and were creating any number of chances, but were denied again by an outstanding display from the Lytchett keeper who kept the scoreline reasonably respectable. Hargreaves scored his second of the game when Lytchett failed to clear a Piddle corner, and he volleyed home from just inside the penalty box. Ben Jeanes then got his second of the season with what was the move and goal of the game. Smith picked up the ball on the right, squared for Hargreaves who flicked the ball on, Jeanes was on hand to hit a left foot first time volley into the top corner which left the keeper no chance.

It was left to Hargreaves to finish the scoring with a cool side foot under the keeper after yet more relentless Piddle pressure. Lytchett did manage one shot on goal in the dying stages but it was tipped onto the bar and over by keeper Southern. Even though the Piddle keeper didnt have much to do, he looked solid when called upon and his excellent kicking created many chances throughout the game.
